Discover our new statement piece the IKOAN Pendant light

When someone draws a lamp, they almost always draw the same shape: a shade with a bulb visible underneath.

It is one of the most universally recognised objects in design. Surprisingly, however, this familiar silhouette has rarely been translated into contemporary lighting design

That simple observation became the starting point for the IKOAN Pendant light. Designed by our inhouse Dutch industrial designer Chris de Wilde, IKOAN transforms the archetypal lamp drawing into a refined, contemporary lighting object that feels both familiar and completely new.

More than a pendant light, IKOAN is the new icon of Lightswing®. A statement piece designed to bring warmth, atmosphere, and character into modern interiors while seamlessly integrating with the Lightswing® suspension system.

Designed Around Atmosphere

The IKOAN Pendant Large was created to bring a warm and inviting ambience to everyday living. At its centre sits a generous opaline globe that emits a soft, diffused glow. The globe appears gently nestled within the aluminium shade, creating a sense of harmony and protection. This relationship between bulb and shade gives the lamp its distinctive character.

The warm light enhances a room without overpowering it. Whether suspended above a dining table, illuminating a living room, or creating atmosphere in an open-plan space, IKOAN provides a comfortable, welcoming presence throughout the day and evening. The lamp is striking enough to act as a standalone statement piece, yet understated enough to blend naturally into the surrounding interior.

The Beauty of Hidden Details

Like many carefully considered designs, IKOAN reveals more the longer you live with it. Hidden inside the lamp is a metallic Lightswing® Yellow socket, a subtle detail inspired by the brand’s visual identity. It remains largely concealed until the moment of interaction, adding an unexpected sense of discovery when installing or changing the bulb.

This detail reflects an important Lightswing® belief: functionality can have its own beauty. Rather than demanding attention, the yellow accent quietly rewards curiosity, adding an extra layer of character to the experience of using the lamp.
