About the Designer

“Inspired by the universal image of a lamp, reimagined for contemporary living.”

IKOAN was designed in-house by Chris de Wilde, a Dutch industrial designer focused on creating clever, user-driven solutions. Rooted in Dutch Design, his work combines simplicity, functionality, and a subtle sense of play, resulting in products with a clear purpose and story.

For IKOAN, Chris drew inspiration from the universal image of a lamp, the shape almost everyone sketches when asked to draw one. He transformed this familiar silhouette into a contemporary lighting collection that feels both iconic and timeless.

With its soft conical shade and generous opaline globe, IKOAN brings warmth, balance, and atmosphere to the home. The collection reflects Chris’s belief that great design should be honest, functional, and enrich everyday life.

Lighting for Everyday Living

“A contemporary reinterpretation of the archetypal lamp shape, IKOAN brings warmth, character and timeless design to dining areas, living spaces and beyond”

Warm and Glowing

Designed with balance and refinement in mind, IKOAN combines a precisely crafted aluminium shade with a distinctive oversized opaline globe, developed exclusively for Lightswing®. Together, they create a soft, warm glow that brings atmosphere without overpowering the space.

Iconic Shape

The generous conical shade gently embraces the globe, creating a sense of visual harmony while subtly directing the light downward. Striking yet understated, IKOAN works beautifully as a standalone statement piece or grouped in dynamic compositions.

Made to Complete the Lightswing®

IKOAN was created as a natural extension of Lightswing®. Where Lightswing® gives you the freedom to position your lighting exactly where you want it, IKOAN completes the setup with a lighting collection developed to work beautifully with it. Together, function and design become one considered lighting solution.
